  Several institutions in the United States are researching permanent pavement, including the National Asphalt Technology Center (NCAT) pavement test track located at Auburn University in Alabama. The accelerated road testing conducted by multiple research institutions includes continuously running high flow simulated traffic on the test section, rapidly loading typical traffic volumes on the test track for years or even decades over several months.
